In the 1990s in the former Soviet Union, the need arose for a quick, high-quality health check for high-level state representatives, astronauts, pilots and divers. Still during the time of the Soviet Union, Soviet experts in space technology and medicine had created a system for preventative computer diagnostics under the name of Amsat (Automatic Medical System for Analytic Therapy), along the lines of the model used by astronauts to monitor the state of their vital organs before and during their time in space.
After winning the Gold Medal for Innovations in Medicine at the 23rd Salon of Innovation in Geneva in 1995, changes in the Russian Government allowed the Amsat system to begin to be used for the general public in hundreds of medical and other diagnostic institutions around the world.
